A recurring theme among South-East leaders is the connection between Kanu’s release and the restoration of peace in the region.

Stakeholders argue that addressing the matter through political dialogue could help ease tensions, strengthen public confidence and create an environment more conducive to investment and development.

Umahi reiterated that regional leaders remain committed to maintaining peace while simultaneously pursuing avenues that could lead to Kanu’s freedom.

    Growing Consensus Across the Region

The campaign for Kanu’s release has increasingly united political office holders, traditional rulers, religious leaders and socio-cultural groups across the South-East.

While approaches may differ, there is growing consensus among many stakeholders that continued engagement with the Federal Government and the pursuit of a political solution remain the most realistic path toward resolving the long-running issue.

As consultations continue behind the scenes, South-East leaders appear determined to sustain pressure and dialogue efforts aimed at securing Kanu’s eventual release and promoting lasting stability in the region.
